Arusha to Tarangire National Park
Your adventure begins in the morning as you depart from Arusha and drive to Tarangire National Park, a journey of about two hours. Upon arrival, you’ll start your first game drive through this picturesque park, known for its vast savannahs, towering baobab trees, and impressive herds of elephants. The Tarangire River runs through the park, attracting animals throughout the year, particularly during the dry season. You'll have the opportunity to spot zebras, wildebeests, giraffes, buffaloes, and predators like lions and leopards if lucky. After an exciting afternoon of wildlife viewing, you’ll head to your comfortable lodge or tented camp for dinner and a restful overnight stay, surrounded by the wild beauty of Tarangire.
Tarangire to Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, you leave Tarangire and begin a long but scenic journey toward the world-famous Serengeti National Park. The drive takes you through the Ngorongoro highlands, offering panoramic views along the way. You may stop for a brief cultural experience at a Maasai village or learn about early human history at Olduvai Gorge (optional stops). As you enter the Serengeti, the landscape unfolds into the classic image of African wilderness — endless grassy plains dotted with acacia trees and teeming with wildlife. You’ll enjoy a game drive en route to your lodge, where you’ll arrive by late afternoon or early evening. After settling in, you’ll have dinner and prepare for another day of adventure in the heart of the Serengeti.
Serengeti to Ngorongoro Conservation Area
This morning begins with a sunrise game drive in the Serengeti, the perfect time to spot predators such as lions and cheetahs on the move before the heat of the day sets in. After breakfast back at the lodge or with a packed brunch, you’ll begin your drive toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The journey offers more chances to spot wildlife along the way. By afternoon, you’ll reach the crater rim, where your lodge sits overlooking the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater — a vast, unbroken volcanic caldera that is one of the most remarkable natural wonders in Africa. Here, you’ll enjoy a peaceful evening with dinner and prepare for an early descent into the crater the following day.
Ngorongoro Crater Tour and Return to Arusha
Your final safari day begins early with a descent into the Ngorongoro Crater for a half-day game drive. This unique ecosystem supports nearly every major East African mammal species, and with a bit of luck, you'll spot all of the Big Five: lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and the elusive black rhino. The crater's floor is rich with wildlife, including hippos, zebras, warthogs, and flamingos near the soda lakes. After a rewarding wildlife experience and a picnic lunch inside the crater, you’ll ascend back to the rim and begin your return drive to Arusha, arriving in the late afternoon or early evening. This marks the end of your unforgettable 4-day safari.
